Toshiba is only one company, I wouldn't discount HD DVD just yet, but then again I wouldn't buy a Blu Ray or HD DVD player yet either. Like HD TVs they will only get cheaper.
Sony is probably still mad about losing out on the VHS / Betamax thing.

It was stupid to have two incompatible formats, knowing that one of the two might well lose.
I don't personally know anyone with blu-ray or HDD come to think of it.

You can buy just as many Betamax titles as you can Blu Ray and HD DVD titles right now. Congo rats on the new player.
