backgammon for money on the net.

Just one problem (or opportunity!) - strong backgammon programs do exist, as well as being able to calculate via rollouts, they've also got all sorts of heuristic analysis and datbases of otimum bearing off strategies etc.

so I can't see any chance that computer users won't be entering these tournaments.

I used to be a good backgammon player. Played on the online ones against real people but got tired of the lil punk kids that frequent any sort of game site. I have played many computer ones, some are boring because I can beat them every time, others are dull because I rarely win against the computer. I would play for money against people, maybe, if they had some sort of moderator to kick off the punks, but I would never bet real money against a computer that runs every roll of the die. Gambling against a computer is a special kind of stupid.
