And your Poink is?

From: graham On: 2009/06/26 18:38:12
My poink is that most of the originals of this site are refugees from Expert Sex Change, back in the day when their policy changes and treatment of experts drove us off in droves; before even they started charging cash.

I would guess that experts don't want to pay to answer questions and have been abandoning the site, which is now trying to lure back the only people who can generate revenue for them.

I guess you had to be there ...

it's a shame what i used to do to earn 50 points.  inflation!! ~sigh~

at least you get 60 points for answering questions here....

(now, where'd that 'award points' button get to???)

i used to laugh at people who'd get all steamed up over points.  like they'd put bread on the table.

those were the days.

I quit bothering to answer questions because I found out that the owners were giving users the impression that 'experts' were paid employees.  Also I wasn't giving them free answers so that they could sell the answers.

Now there's free sites like yahoo answers, their site is much cleaner than EE's muddle of a site.

I know what's happened there, the EE developers have got so wrapped up in the functionality they want to deliver, that they can't see it from the perspective of a user new to the site, you just get hit with muddling info all over the place, yuck what a mess it is!

BTW

I think you possibly had an old answer graded and got the points that way??

"I think you possibly had an old answer graded and got the points that way?? "

Hmmm, possible, if no one else has had such mail.

I agree with everything said, btw

Yahoo answers is ok, I rather like Nabble or StackOverflow...

Anyone else recommend anything?

i still answer at www.theofficeexperts.com "Free Technical Support Forums" in the Access forum.
http://www.theo...s.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=2
i have over 1600 posts.  there was a time (recently) that i was the only expert there, but i've talked 2 "askers" into doing some "answering" lately.
i do it to keep sharp, plus it's a great way to show prospective clients/employers examples of my work.
starl used to be in the Excel forum, but i haven't seen her there much lately.
if i remember correctly, it was started by Dreamboat Annie and then sold to Mr Excel.
