Does yahoo answers infringe the copyright that experts-exchange was so proud of?

They used to say they had a patent on the question answer format, with points that Y!A seems to also use.

Or did they sell them a license or what?

Nope they still have the patent, but it is for the way answers are graded and receive points based on the grade vs allotted points
