Or it could be one of these;
Quant can refer to:
Quantitative investing Mary Quant, an English fashion designer Jonas Quant, a Swedish songwriter Quantitative analyst, or "quant", a person who applies mathematical techniques to issues in finance Quant fund, a mutual fund managed by a quantitative analyst Quantitation, a calculation of the quantity of a substance detected through some chemical analytical technique, e.g., mass spectrometry Quant pole, used to propel a barge
I am guessing it is the last one.

Mary Quant fashion designer, as in up with the miniskirt, down with hotpants.
It's bound to be quantitative easing, Gordon Brown had been having some done with his piles. He has borrowed large piles of cash and is now adding to it by printing more money.

I think most of these guys (and they are virtually all guys) are indeed, a right bunch of quants who didn't really know what they were doing. Any old fool can make vast amounts in a bull market (like in the last decade) if they can convince some mug bank to lend them enough cash to buy stock on margin, or trade in bizarre and complex deriviatives that no-one really understands.
I think this guy was a quant (or in a similar kind of profession), quite a cool guy too:

Not much of an apology there, but the Bloomberg bit at the end was funny.

I have not been here in what feels like *forever* and you are all still talking the same talk! LOL. I hate Vista Business - if I type a certain key it pops up a window (trying to be helpful - NOT!) Well Hello everybody!
