Somebody claims to have predicted the death of John Travolta's Son Jett? Wow!!!!

Look at this, folks!

http://www.wwtdd.com/post.phtml?pk=2268

I quote:
"I predict Jett Travolta will die in the bath and be found by his caretaker at the end of 2008 due to scientology. So sayeth the crystal ball."

Isn't that amazing?

Well....

No.

It isn't.

Let's have a look at the "Way Back Machine", shall we!?

First of all, there's a whole blog about Jett's autism, that is no longer there, and the "prediction" was originally this:

"Soon, Jett will be dead.  Ta-da!"

Right.

My Magic 8Ball has been lying to me for 30 years.
Maybe I should RMA it.

I knew this would happen.  Another Q opened and I have not closed mine.  hmmmm  I must be smart.

even so it's a bit spooky isn't it?  They appeared to predict his death.

Anyway, my son (11) has recently been diagnosed with Asperger's syndrome, there's a few things in that article that show some level of ignorance coming from a parent of an autistic child.

>>"Jett does not speak at all," confirms Kenny. "He has not even been taught how to communicate

that's mutism, a possible effect of autism, however some autistic kids are mute whilst others aren't.  When I went to see a specialist school catering for kids with autism, the kids there were widely different, some of them were 100% mute.

>>They exclude Jett from all social events because they are embarrassed

he probably didn't want to go to the social events, he might have felt like a fish out of water at them.

>>Once," reports Kenny, "when Kelly took him to the movies, Jett started to have a meltdown and Kelly pointed at the nanny and ordered, 'Take care of it.'"

there's times I've wished I was rich enough to employ someone to take care of that sort of problem, I can tell you.

>>The Kennys also claim that Kelly and John "let Jett sit in front of video games all day eating junk food, while they eat the best organic food money can buy

we've got the same sort of problems, trying to solve that one might seem like a no-brainer, but it isn't easy if a kid has a meltdown when he has to stop using a video game.  My wife's spent a fortune on organic food stuffs, and guess what neither kid likes eating it (I think that's a pretty normal story).

I imagine that even with your limited funds you would manage to not let your kid die. You'd think that a rich fuck like Travolta would be able to afford constant supervision, or at least video survailance to prevent such things from happening.

That's the problem I have with this story. The guy looked at Scientology, he saw the dangers, he realised that Jett's condition made him especially vulnerable and he ended with "soon, Jett will be dead". That was a good, educated guess as to what might happen in the situation. And he should have left it at that. Instead, he saw fit to retroactively modify his blog to make it a very specific, accurate prediction. He blew it. What a twerp.

yeah I agree, he totally blew what was an amazing prediction.  I'd predicted Lady Diana's death to my wife a few weeks before it happened, but she forgot the conversation.
