Well, the lads at IT found out there was stuff on my PC that wasn't approved. Fair enough. So they uninstalled it. They also revoked my local access.
What a PITA. Any interesting web sites - NO, NOTHING blue - blocked. gmail? Blocked. Instant Messaging? Blocked. POP3? Blocked.

You must've either pissed off someone or they are playing some stupid power game with you.
I do that to people who piss me off. I never play the power game, but I have known people that do, it rarely works out the way they think it will.
Good news is that if you all you did was piss someone off, they will likely put it back unexpectedly and if they time it right, it will be right before you complain to someone. That way you look like an idiot when you go to show someone how bad it is.

that's right Bsod, at EE I registered with my own name 'deighton', I was the person at GUS who first encountered EE and showed it to Cooler, Fatso etc. Our division began to be liquidated in 2000, and the 'GUS' company is now broken up, and they vacated their original offices.
One highlight was Mirkwood's visit to meet us in person (possibly to meet Fatso in person mainly though).
Those were the days!

What a coincidence... I hadn't been back to TOS for ages until I got a notif yesterday for an old Q. It was you, deighton, with your timeous "pig with lipstick" comment. As I had to login to see it, I figured I'd have a look around to see if anything interesting was being discussed and, of course, nothing was. So I stopped by here to see what the old, familiar crowd were up to. Anyways, here's the LOL for your TOS post!

I too went back to TOS, I was looking at past threads of ScottPletcher, probably the most right wing expert possible. Well maybe not quite though, he doesn't seem to advocate any mass extermination as such.

I occasionally contribute to another board (under a different username) but I've given up on TOS. That Lounge grew unrecognizable, with any meaningful discourse hopelessly diluted by people just posting for a split and Qs spewed out for the sole purpose of getting the splitters to 3K each month. As any quick glance at the Q list will reveal, TOS has become, literally, trivial and, ironically, pointless.

bsod you ol' (b) sod! I've been lurking here and there and noticed you showed up. The lounge at TOS is not that bad now. Granted it's not "deep", but rather just fun. There was a time in the recent past that it was nothing but grabbing for points, but changed somewhat after my posting of "losing the lizard". It's still fun, although I take occasional breaks from it.
Also, hello Pino and carobiters; just occasionally lurking around a bit. I appreciated the "end of an era" thread (sorry for your loss Pino). I couldn't post; the loss of a dear pet is very difficult. I lost my cat a while back and not sure I'll ever have another.

Hey Dd! I'll admit I only gave TOS the most cursory of looks the other day before declaring it void of substance as usual, and perhaps my expectations coloured my perceptions...
I'll have to have a peek at your "losing" thread. Ever since TOS did away with the PAQ list I've used your profile as a surrogate list to improve the odds of finding an interesting Q when I lurk (do you feel violated? ;)) but I lurk so infrequently that I guess I missed that one.

Not yet, but keep trying LOL
TOS has filters you can set up in your profile. You can set one up to log all asked Qs in the lounge(as well as one for open questions) which acts like a recent paq. Take a look at some of their new stuff; even if you don't frequent their bar that often it's nice to check on what's up on occasion.

I quit playing at TOS Lounge mostly. It did get really bad over there for a while, worse than the goat herder invasion of 2001 or so. Nothing bu idiots scrambling for points. It has improved lately somewhat, maybe the old timers still aorund could take it back and flame away the mentally challenged that have ruined it.

Yeah, but your profile filters a lot of Lounge chaff, since a goodly percentage of the interesting Qs are in your "Qs Asked" list....
If I wanted to see all the PAQs I still wouldn't bother to set up a filter, I'd just use Keneso's profile. ;)
stoney, my flaming days are over. I'm a more mellow bsod since I discovered Metamucil. ;)

Coral, anyone can make a CSS "wrapper"; it's just a div container. You have the points, anyone at EE could create something for you (is it obvious I don't wanna do it:-). I'll help with a question though. Besides, expertsrt.com is gone.
