this is a very long article on how Registrars are able to screw the masses, but well worth reading. http://www.mike...how-to-snatch-an-expiring-domain since Domain Names is an international business, and ICAAN has no real power to enforce the rules, what chance do i have of grabbing the name i want, without getting raped in the process?

be ready to pay as soon as you find the domain available, for one. Ping/tracert to a domain name from cmd prmtp to see if the domain is used.

ok so you need a punchy name to some extent, but take a look at some of the sites that did make it, their names aren't always that obvious, how hard would it have been to register 'google', 'youtube' etc, then there're all the sites with great names that flopped, e.g. pets.com, then there's sites like clickmango that no one else would have registered that flopped anyway. It's pretty much the content of the site that does the business, as long as the url isn't too clumsy to remember. Or am I naive? have all names within reason been registered?
