Do i have a drive crashing??? For the last two days (looking at the log), the system has reported this error about every 30 minuts... It says it's Device\Harddisk2\D
but I don't know if that's my D drive - which is disk 0 or Disk2, which is an external drive...
HELP!

more info... there is software involved - I turned off beyondtv and the errors stopped... beyondtv does read the drive. it wasn't writing to it when the errors happened...
so do I fix the hd or the software?
ok - as a test, i created a txt file on the drive. and got the error... but scans say the drive is healthy..
It's a Seagate FreeAgent, 500gb probably this one: http://www.best...pe=product&cp=1&id=1202649423485
I've had it for awhile, tho just now noticing the error messages. And they seem to have been going on for awhile.

Have you run the Seagate diagnostics software on it? http://www.seag...n-us/support/downloads/seatools/

Hi.
Looking at the info you've given, it seems you gen an "event" with the ID 51 that occurs every 30 minutes. Superficially, that doesn't look to ominous... Is there any additional info for these events, or any sort of malfunction that you can detect? /RID

I've had two BSODs in the last week.. but I believe it's unrelated. 1. The event id51 has been going on for a month 2. the BSODs happened when I had torrent open (after the dls were finished)
I wouldn't worry about the event.. except it's getting worse. Begining of July, it was about every hour. Now,every 30 minutes...

There's an MS KB article, perhaps something of interest? Can't say I understand it all....

yeah, I've been through that one several times. I looked into the Event 9, 11 how to test stuff.. slight possibility it's the connector. For now I have the drive removed - I'm going to test it on some other pcs. Else.. I guess it's returning it. At least it's not my software ...

well, did more testing. Took the hd and plugged it into another pc - no error (I was able to reproduce the error by writing to a txt file on the drive). So, took it back to its home, but used a different port. And seems fine.. so, could be a bad port....? or.. i just realized, maybe it wasn't plugged in fully???

well, i thought I had solved it - and I hadn't. Tho, the errors are back to once an hour. Guess I'll have to plug it into another pc for a bit longer to test..
