Can consider ordering the threads within a topic so that the ones with the most recent comments are on top?

Seconded, that's pretty standard. The only places I've ever seen otherwise are TOS and its offshoots.

I'm not opposed to that either, although I'd just prefer that we were taken to the bottom of a page when linked to a new comment (if the comment itself can't be bookmarked), or having just posted.
